Ao longo de uma carreira extraordinária em um dos grupos mais importantes no hip-hop,O 'A Tribe Called Quest' sempre formou confortavelmente a sua própria trajetória. Foi um dos pioneiros em trazer o 'smooth jazz' no hip hop, e foi irônico ao ajudar a introduzir J Dilla para todos. O seu lugar no hall da fama do hip-hop foi reservado anos atrás... o que torna a infeliz perda de Phife Dawg no início do ano ainda mais dolorosa.
A chave para essa dinâmica lírica do 'A Tribe…' era uma espécie de yin e yang entre Q-Tip The Abstract e Phife Dawg, o assassino de cinco pés (Phife era baixinho, tinha 1,52 de altura). Enquanto Q-Tip poderia mais flutuante com a caneta e cheio de metáforas, Phife era mais corajoso nas rimas, era mais rua, e sempre hilariante. Phife era uma das cabeças que estavam procurando para ter punchlines espirituosas, e trouxe as espadas, alfinetando qualquer coisa que ele tocou. Algumas das linhas mais memoráveis do 'A Tribe…' saiu da boca de Phife, e só por isso, ele vai dolorosamente saudoso.

Essa é a mixtape mais antiga produzida por Walshy Fire do Major Lazer (lançada em 2012). E apresentou o Chronixx mais versátil, entre o reggae e o hip hop. É uma aula vocal em instrumentais 4x4.
Você vai ouvir obviamente o roots reggae, mas vai ouvir Chronixx com um vocal fluido em instrumentais de Arrested Develpment, KRS-One, e mais alguns Boom Bap's dos anos 90.
